Prof. Andreas Kuckertz
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Kuckertz is head of the Entrepreneurship Research Group at the University of Hohenheim. For FGF e.V., the largest academic association in the German-speaking countries focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, and SMEs, he has been serving as president since October 2018.
After studying communication and media science, business administration, and philosophy at the Universities of Marburg and Leipzig (graduating with an M.A. in 2001), he received his doctorate summa cum laude from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2005 with a thesis on venture capital financing. In 2011, he finished his professorial qualification (“habilitation”) at the University of Duisburg-Essen with a cumulative thesis on the entrepreneurial process of innovative start-ups. Since 2012 he has been a full professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Hohenheim.
Prof. Kuckertz stems from an entrepreneurial family. Ever since he worked with a start-up in Boston and for the venture capital arm of a German state bank during his studies, he has been particularly enthusiastic about innovative start-up projects. Meanwhile, he has supported innovative entrepreneurs in developing their start-ups for almost 20 years, both as a mentor and an advisory board member. He is part of the leadership of InnoGreenhouse, which provides a platform for creative Hohenheim brains and assists spin-offs from the university. In addition, he is a regular juror at various business awards. The local Stuttgart ecosystem is also critically important to him. Here, for example, he is active as a scientific advisor to Startup Stuttgart e.V. He has also initiated initiatives to advance the regional economy in collaboration with the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Business Venturing Insights. Furthermore, he is an active member of the editorial boards of Management Review Quarterly, the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, the Journal of Small Business Management, and the Journal of Business Research. International research visits have taken him to the Queensland University of Technology, Turku School of Economics, University of Vaasa, and Cass Business School, among others.
