During the company visit of Schachinger Logistics – the company employs some 500 staff at 17 locations – the TROIKA students gained insight into the world of logistics. After a theoretical input the student group had the chance to experience the work at Schachinger logistics very closely. The guided tour brought the visitors to the wooden high bay warehouse – according to the company it is the most sustainable logistics building of Europe – and the impressive solar energy plant on the roofs of the warehouses which generates all the energy needed for the warehouses. The company is a pioneer when it comes to e-mobility. Already since several years e-vans are used in urban areas for delivering parcels. What is new is an on-road test of an e-truck implemented together with MAN. Aim of this project is to gain new findings for fostering the electrification of vehicle fleets in urban areas.
